Carlos Blanco, MD is Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and is Assistant Director of Anxiety Disorders Clinic at the New York Sate Psychiatric Institute.  He received both his MD and PhD from Autonóma University School of Medicine in Madrid Spain. After completing his residency in psychiatry in Madrid, Dr. Blanco immigrated to the U.S. where he completed another residency and research fellowship in psychiatry at Columbia University. Dr. Blanco also holds Masters degrees in Health Resource Management and Biostatistics.

Dr. Blanco has been published in over forty peer reviewed scientific journals.  The focus of his research is on the cause and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, with a particular emphasis on social anxiety disorder.

Currently, Dr. Blanco serves as a reviewer for many scientific journals, as well as for the National Institute of Mental Health and the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment.
